Are Tarot Cards Dangerous?

Are Tarot card dangerous? Well, yes! If you throw your cards about or leave them lying around on the floor for somebody to slip on!

The Tarot has been stereotyped as something dark and sinister in certain monotheistic religions and in movies. Some say that the reason Tarot works is because the devil is behind it. Firstly, you would have to believe that the devil as an entity who runs around wanting to michief and evil! And secondly, I cannot personally see how the devil is  behind a tool that helps you look at your life for ways to improve it and make it better.

The devil really represents the evil that all humans are capable of, it's whether we choose to be evil that defines us. So it goes without saying, that if you use the Tarot for the highest good and with the best of intent, its hard to see how the devil can be involved.

The Tarot is mainly used as a tool to help see our lives from another perspective or, as it could be the future. It's easy to fail to see the wood from the tree's when you have a problem or are worried about your future. Using the Tarot allows us to find an answer to our problems and to see where our future might be heading by allowing the mind to think up new possibilities and to find answers we might not thought of before. The cards also give us hope and courage to deal with problems too and to be prepared for any potential difficulties that may come our way.

On the other hand, if you want to find out if your best friend is doing the dirty on you, or how you can get your own back on somebody that hurt your feelings, then your going to run into trouble. Using the Tarot as a higher power, as a tool to 'get one up' on another person,  is why monotheistic religions do not like the Tarot, they think that the Tarot used this way is harmful and they are right. When used like this, any answer you think you may get from the Tarot is likely to lead you down a misguided path of hurt and consequences, allowing you to bypass the common sense of sitting down with your best friend to ask them the truth or of finding a way to forgive the person that hurt you.

Tarot readers when read for the public they must state that "Readings are for entertainment purposes only" which suggests that you must not take the reading as true or as something you must believe and act upon. Ths is right. The Tarot is to help you see new possiblilites and help you find ways of dealing with your life, not to find an easy answer to your problems or to give you the ability to avoid any problems you think you may have.

Used with common sense and with good intent the Tarot has great benefits, but if you use it unwisely then you are going to cause your self harm and they will indeed become dangerous. Not because the Devil is involved, but because you have become the devil.

So the answer to whether the Tarot cards are dangerous or not is? It depends on how you use them!
